Are you a passionate and experienced social work leader looking to make a meaningful impact in the fostering sector? We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Fostering Service Manager to join our team in Cymru South area. Regular travel across the area is an essential criteria for this role.

About Us

Set up by a former foster parent and former social worker in 1994, Foster Care Associates (FCA) is an established fostering agency which forms part of the Polaris Community - one of the UK’s largest leading communities of children’s service providers.

The business was born out of an enthusiasm for delivering fostering services to make a positive difference to the lives of looked after children. Our first office was in the Worcestershire countryside, and that’s still where our Head Office is today.

We’ve come a long way since those early days and, over the years, FCA has built a strong reputation for excellence, and now offers a wide range of services to children and families. But our purpose remains the same; ‘to make a positive and lasting difference for children, families and communities’, and it’s underpinned by a series of values designed to help us assist children and young people to reach their full potential.

About the Role:

As Fostering Service Manager you will be expected to work closely with Local Authorities to effectively manage, develop and promote Social Work and Support Services within your remit.  You will be accountable for the operational, regulatory and financial performance of your area.  Reporting directly to the Registered Manager, you will provide positive and strong leadership and management to your team to ensure high-quality care for children and young people while supporting and empowering our foster parents. Your role will include:

  • Retention and Support: Building strong, trusting relationships with foster parents to enhance retention and satisfaction, ensuring they feel valued and supported at every stage of their journey.
  • Wellbeing and Engagement: Fostering a culture of empathy and support, prioritising the wellbeing of both staff and foster parents, and creating a positive, inclusive environment.
  • Commercial Growth: Developing and implementing strategies to promote the commercial growth of the agency, ensuring long-term sustainability and stability.
  • Leadership and Development: Leading a dedicated team of social workers, supporting their professional growth, and maintaining high standards of practice.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensuring that the service meets and exceeds regulatory standards, with a focus on continuous improvement and best practice.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborating with local authorities, commissioners, and other external partners to promote the agency and strengthen relationships.

About You

You will be a compassionate, resilient, and inspiring leader, with a commitment to delivering positive outcomes for children, young people, and foster families. You should have:

  • A recognised social work qualification and registration with Social Care Wales (or equivalent).
  • Significant experience in fostering or children’s social care management.
  • A proven track record of supporting and retaining foster parents.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • A commitment to promoting the wellbeing and resilience of both staff and foster families.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Ongoing professional development and career progression opportunities.
  • Supportive, family-friendly working environment.
  • Flexible working arrangements.

Join us in making a real difference in the lives of children, young people, and foster families.

It is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a highly supportive environment and to continue to build on an already highly performing fostering service which continues to develop and grow.
