About Budwood Limited
Budwood, part of Polaris Community, is a local service dedicated to providing high-quality children’s homes and 16+ Supported Accommodation. Our young people may have experienced adverse childhood experiences, and our aim is to offer them a stable, nurturing home environment where they can feel safe, grow in confidence and gain the skills they need for adulthood and independence.
The Role
We’re looking for a passionate, motivated Dual Deputy Manager to support our two children’s residential homes in Poole. You’ll help lead the team, maintain high standards of care and support young people aged 8-18 as they work towards independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Home Manager and deputise when required
- Lead, mentor and supervise staff to maintain high-quality care
- Ensure care aligns with each young person’s placement plan
- Build positive, trusting relationships and promote development and safety
- Work collaboratively with families, schools, health services and local authorities
- Maintain safeguarding compliance and ensure staff training is current
- Promote Budwood’s therapeutic approach (CATCH)
- Assist with rotas, budgeting, timesheets and staff inductions
- Oversee records, risk assessments and placement documentation
- Support learning, emotional development and independence
- Maintain home standards, including meal prep and general upkeep
- Assist with inspections, audits and health and safety compliance
- Participate in the on-call rota and ongoing professional development
About You
- Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care / Children and Young People (or working towards this qualification)
- At least two years’ experience in residential childcare or supported living
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Strong understanding of the Children Act 1989 and the Children Act 2004 and Supported Accommodation Quality Standards
- Solid knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety and regulatory requirements
- Experience supporting young people, ideally including emotional and behavioural needs, youth work or residential care
- Confident leadership and teamwork skills
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Proactive, flexible and child-centred
